PACE 2008 COATINGS CONFERENCE
 - Booth #TBA
ucc
will exhibit at this year's PACE conference in LA.  We will also host a Round Table on underwater coatings for industry representtaives and utilities.  Click here for information or contact Charlie Vallance.

PWR REACTOR VESSEL MAINTENANCE
UCC is curently working with several nuclear utilties and major OEMs to develop procedures for performing underwater maintenance on PWR reactor vessel upper internals. Special work procedures and radiological diving controls are being used to ensure that this work can be performed safely and efficiently.  Some tasks will be performed entirely by divers and some by diver assited remote tools.  For more information, please contact Charlie Vallance.

NUCLEAR FUEL POOL DECOMMISSIONING
UCC is assisting a major nuclear utitlity in the decommissioning of one of it's closed reactors.  UCC will remove all sludge, debris and remaining fixtures prior to coating the pool walls with a fixative.  The fixative is a 100% solids epoxy supplied by TFT of Houston.  It wll be applied underwater by divers using a pressurized roller and plural component pumping equipment.  For more information, please contact Charlie Vallance.

DOE POOL CLEANUP
UCC is providing underwater services in support of cleanup work in a radiologically contaminated fuel storage pool. The work will require the use of divers to assist in the removal of highly irradiated sludge and debris. For more information, please contact Charlie Vallance.

SAFETY RELATED COATING QUALIFICATION
UCC has succesfully completed design basis accident (DBA) testing to qualify its underwater coatings for use at TVA's Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant. The coating, manufactured by TFT of Houston, is qualified for use in safety related immersion areas in the currenlty operating Units 2 and 3 as well as Unit 1 which is undergoing preparations for startup.

In 2006, UCC will begin testing of a new underwater coating and application process for coating large surface areas.  Several U.S. and foreign utilties are particpating.  Other UCC underwater coatings are already approved for use at most of the operating plants in the US as well as in Asia.  For more information, please contact Charlie Vallance.
