Cooling tower maintenance is another common, but unique turnkey service UCC provides for a vast array of industry clients throughout the power generation and manufacturing industries. Debris removal, gate repairs and replacements, as well as, screen services are just a few examples of typical preventative maintenance site services offered by UCC.
UCC recently performed accumulated debris removal and processing services at Wade Utility Plant on the Lafayette campus of Purdue University. With over 20 cubic yards of debris removed from the internal basins of the cooling towers Wade Utility Plant can expect improved plant performance and increased component longevity. The debris material was captured, processed, tested and hauled offsite to an approved landfill. Underwater components were cleaned utilizing specialized equipment and practices.
Following the debris removal and component cleaning, multiple gates, pumps, screens and concrete structures were inspected and condition assessments performed, providing Wade Utility Plant with full knowledge of current component conditions. In turn allowing them to plan ahead and budget for repairs well in advance if required and to rest assured that components are in good working order, therefore minimizing the possibility of any unsuspected component failures and plant downtime. UCC worked with Purdue University’s schedule and site configuration to minimize outage time during the project. Upon completion a final comprehensive report was developed and submitted for future reference.
